Martial Arts for Kids.
Kang Do Won Martial Arts Institute began in 1984 and has been at its current location in Wickliffe, Ohio, since 1985, serving adults and kids. Kang Do Won is Korean and, when translated, means “School of Inner Strength.” Our educational focus is always on positive personal growth, healthy character development, and behavioral modification, which is ultimately how the true quality and inner strength of all human beings is nurtured.
Senior Master Hotchkiss offers the following at the Kang Do Won:
– Traditional martial arts instruction focused on positive personal growth, healthy character development, behavioral modification, and effective self-defense skills training for men, women, and children.
– Self-defense training and personal safety education based upon the practical application of techniques and the identification of unsafe environments for men, women, and children.
Kang Do Won Martial Arts Institute was founded by Grand Master Richard J. Lewis and has been providing excellence in traditional martial arts instruction/ self-defense training for decades. Grand Master Lewis is a rare and vanishing breed of martial artists who believe that martial art is a way of life that inspires total human growth and development, not destruction. He created a structured, strict, and disciplined environment that extracts maximum focus and effort from his students while ensuring fun and enjoyment of the education and training process.
On July 1, 2015, Grand Master Lewis transferred ownership of the Kang Do Won Martial Arts Institute, directorship of the American Warrior Martial Arts Tournament, the Presidency of Moo Do Won/USA, and sole educational responsibility and authority for all of the above to his son, Senior Master Gary M. Hotchkiss, 7th Degree Black Belt.
